Outreach Ministries

Be Our Guest:  This event is held every 1st and 2nd Wednesday of the month where a nutritious meal is prepared and served – free of charge – to those who wish to join us.  These delicious meals are carefully packaged and handed out by our committed team that continues with this greatly appreciated ministry – rain or shine.

The Caring Closet Ministry

The Caring Closet ministry frequently operates in conjunction with the Be Our Guest event.  Hygiene products such as shampoo, toothpaste, soap or deodorant are distributed each month to those who attend.  Additionally, a bag with laundry detergent, dish soap and toilet paper is also handed out.

Christmas Family Outreach Ministry

Each year a local family or possibly two are chosen for our church to provide food and gifts at Christmas.  Our parish happily comes together in a big way toward this outreach ministry to provide such things as:  gift cards for groceries, household items, toys and books for children, blankets and clothing to help make their season brighter.

The Knitting Circle Ministry

This ministry meets once a month to share knitting patterns, ideas and just get together for social time.  They make beautiful prayer shawls, lap robes for hospice as well as caps and scarves for the Mariners Ministry.  The prayer shawls are available to anyone who is grieving, having surgery, needs healing or comfort of any kind.

Meridian Food Bank

Your Meridian Food Bank supports people who vitally need help.  It is significant to realize that in 2022 there were over 300 volunteers donating over 30,000 hours of time, distributing more than 1,100,000 pounds of food.  A number of local stores donate fresh and canned food.  Holy Nativity parishioners also contribute non-perishable food items as well as financial donations to this worthwhile cause.

Meridian Middle School

Holy Nativity parishioners contributed over $1,200 for the Meridian Middle School HOPE Pantry in 2021.  This contribution helped the counseling staff to resupply the pantry with non-perishable food, cleaning supplies and person hygiene items.  In 2022, Holy Nativity purchased much needed clothing items for children such as shorts, socks and underwear.

Thanksgiving Food Box Program

Holy Nativity joins with various churches, civic groups and families in this effort organized by St. Vincent de Paul of Boise, to provide Thanksgiving meal boxes to those in Ada County who may need assistance.  The assembled boxes are then handed out during Thanksgiving week.  In 2022, Holy Nativity donated $2,400 toward this ministry, touching the lives of many during this special holiday.

Crop Walk Ministry

This annual event which is held in October, is sponsored by the Church World Service and raises money to address hunger on a local and global level.  Holy Nativity sponsors walkers who participate to raise funds for this wonderful effort.
